CARE FOR THE ORAL HEALTH OF YOUNG PATIENTS

A dentist plays an important role in shaping a child’s attitude toward dental health. Regular check-ups are important for young children to detect and address any irregularities and prevent the development of cavities. The professional team at Lavin Dental Clinic will show your little ones that visiting the dentist is not scary, with their care and patience.

FIRST DENTAL VISIT

The first dental visit is recommended by the age of 12 months, or at least 6 months after the eruption of the first primary tooth. This examination is important for parents to receive education on their children’s dental health. Additionally, it helps develop a positive attitude towards the dentist from an early age and establishes a habit of dental care.

CARIES IN PRIMARY TEETH

Cavities in primary teeth can occur very early due to maternal illness during pregnancy or as a result of poor habits such as consuming sugary foods, juices, and other beverages. It is important to treat cavities promptly to prevent rapid progression. Cavities can easily spread to a larger number of teeth due to the characteristics of primary teeth, which have significantly weaker enamel compared to permanent teeth.

PERMANENT TEETH

The first permanent teeth usually emerge between the ages of six and seven, although this timeframe may vary individually. First molars (six-year molars) commonly appear, often in the lower jaw. It can happen that parents themselves are unaware that their child’s permanent tooth has erupted because it does not follow the loss of a primary tooth but simply continues the dental sequence.
